Domain Name Transfer Guide

Too much hassle? - Check out our website transfer service.

Transferring a domain from one host to another does not have to be hard work. Our dedicated support team will assist you at every step of the way, ensuring a trouble free and easy transfer.

Below we have included the basic steps we take when transferring domains. We do recommend leaving 7-14 days to complete the transfer. Most domains have protection periods in place to stop them being transferred without the owner having time to react, which slows down the process.

  1. You setup your account on the Vade system. At this point it is best to setup your website in an identical fashion on our system as it is on your old host.
  2. Vade transfers ownership of the domains but leaves everything pointed back at the original host. At the stage it helps to have a list of the current DNS entries that you have. e.g. custom.mydomain.ie.
  3. We redirect website traffic from the old host to your new account on the Vade system.
  4. We redirect email from your old host to your new host. If possible, this is timed in with stopping incoming mail on your old host. All good hosts provide the ability to forward email on to another mail server.

This list is by no means exhaustive, and we do recognise that every case at its own merits. A member of our support team will be assisting you through the process to ensure everything goes okay, and also to address any concerns you may have.
